Elizabeth D. Kissick

Elizabeth Kissick is the Senior Director of Health Plan Development and Analytics at Univerisity of Colorado Medicine (CU Medicine), a 501c not-for-profit corporation supporting all medical services operations for the clinical practice of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She’s been a trustee for the CU Health and Welfare Trust since June 2010.

In her role, Kissick oversees all commercial contract transactions, including traditional fee-for-service commercial insurance contract negotiations, full medical risk physician capitation, rental network development and management, and business activities associated with population management within a faculty practice plan.

Since joining CU Medicine in 1995, she has been responsible for network development and management for a variety of affiliations and partnerships on behalf of the CU School of Medicine. Kissick also is responsible for all commercial contracts for clinical services rendered by the school’s faculty.

Her extensive background in the healthcare industry includes experience in health care financing, physician practice reimbursement and health insurance plan operations. She collaborates with the physician/academic community on policy matters affecting physician contracting and reimbursement.

Before joining CU Medicine, Kissick was senior manager for managed care at the Johns Hopkins Medical Services System, the parent organization of the Johns Hopkins Medical Services Corporation. There, she managed all aspects of a Medicaid and commercial capitation contract impacting 77,000 people, and oversaw the launch and operations of a health benefits option for military dependents and retirees. Her responsibilities included clinical operations, network development, member marketing and plan administration.

Kissick also received post-graduate training as an administrative fellow at Johns Hopkins, where she trained with senior executives of the Health System, School of Medicine and Practice Plan. She also was a benefits consultant with Mercer Consulting Firm, where she worked with state and private employers on benefits design.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University in New Haven, Conn. (1986) and a master’s degree in business administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (1991). Kissick is the recipient of the Henry J. Kaiser Academic Excellence Award.
